LAGO FILM GMBH COMPANY PROFILE
Lago Film is a Berlin-based company founded by film producer Marco Mehlitz in 2004, producing international as well as German movies. The first international thriller SURVEILLANCE was directed by Jennifer Lynch and selected for the official program out of competition in the Cannes film festival. Furthermore it received the „best picture“ award at Sitges Film Festival in 2008. In 2009 the $50 Mio. production of Mr. NOBODY was next for Lago Film. It was co-produced with France, Belgium and Canada and premiered at the Venice Film Festival. A DANGEROUS METHOD directed by David Cronenberg, starring Keira Knightly, Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender was a German-Canadian co-production produced in 2010/11. The movie premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2011 and at Toronto Film Festival. Further international co-productions followed, such as Jim Jarmusch’s ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (2013), starring Tilda Swinton (official selection Cannes 2013) and THE VOICES (2014) by director Marjane Satrapi with Ryan Reynolds in the leading role. Since autumn 2014 Lago Film increasingly produces for the German market. The film adaption of the best-selling novel TSCHICK by Wolfgang Herrndorf was directed by Fatih Akin and released to big success in German cinemas on September 15th 2016.
